The inspirational story of Average To Art, Inc.’s owner, Alissa Murnane, begins a month after her August 2001 graduation from The Ohio State University. Undeterred, but forever marked by the events of September 11, Murnane packed her truck, traveling from the emotional epicenters of New York City and Washington DC, to reflective nooks of Maine, to the Redwood forests, and the white sands of New Mexico. Missing family, Murnane hopped a plane to Okinawa, Japan, not knowing this detour would have her staying in the country for two years or that she would meet her future husband, who was stationed there as a Marine.

Murnane’s passion for purpose and living an honorable life translates into her art. "Our clients deserve the very best, because without them, we would not have the opportunity to live our dreams," Murnane says. "We are committed to making every room your favorite with designer finishes, murals, custom designed and painted furniture, cabinet painting, and glazing."

Murnane is involved in local organizations, such as Junior Achievement of Alabama. "I want young people to know you can succeed in a creative field. I am proof," she states.

Murnane’s husband, Austin Ramsay, recently joined the company as head of the cabinet division that specializes in cabinet painting and glazing. "We are excited to continue designing for our clients while expanding our services," Ramsay says.

Average To Art is a member of the Huntsville/Madison Builders Association, Better Business Bureau, and Murnane is an ambassador with the Huntsville/Madison Chamber of Commerce. Murnane was nominated for Entrepreneur of the Year and a Young Professional of the Year finalist for the 2006 Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Awards.
